Applying to lots of jobs is smart. Here's how to stay organized when your pipeline grows.
Use statuses religiously
Every job should have the correct status. This is the single most important thing. If a job hasn't responded in 3 weeks, it's still "Applied" — don't move it unless something changed.
Use priorities
Mark your top choices as High priority. These get special attention in your dashboard and reminders. Everything else stays Medium or Low.
Use tags
Tags help you slice your pipeline. Try:
- "remote" / "hybrid" / "onsite"
- "startup" / "enterprise" / "agency"
- Industry tags like "fintech" / "healthtech"
- "dream" for your top picks
Let reminders do the work
Don't try to remember which jobs need follow-up. Orbit tracks this automatically:
- 7 days after applying: follow-up reminder
- 14 days: stale application warning
- Contacts going cold: reconnect reminder
Check the Today tab each morning. Handle 3 items. Done.
Review weekly
Every weekend, visit the Week tab:
- How many applications this week vs your average?
- Any jobs gone quiet that need attention?
- What's your networking vs cold apply ratio?
Archive when done
Jobs you're no longer pursuing should be marked Withdrawn or Rejected. This keeps your active pipeline clean.
Use the Analytics tab
The funnel shows your conversion rates. If you're applying to 50 jobs but only getting 2 interviews, the issue is likely your resume or targeting — not volume.
