If AI features aren't working

If Scout, resume tailoring, or job parsing is not working, try these steps.

  1. Check your API key — Go to Settings > Preferences > AI Provider and make sure your key is entered correctly
  2. Check the provider's status — Your AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Grok) may be experiencing downtime
  3. Wait and retry — AI features are limited to 10 requests per minute. If you have been using them heavily, wait a moment.
  4. Shorten your input — Job descriptions and contact text are limited to 50,000 characters

About your API keys:

Your API keys are stored on your device only. They are never sent to Orbit's servers or included in cloud sync.

Tip: If you recently changed your API key with your provider, update it in Settings > Preferences as well.
